Aila graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts (Calgary, AB) with a Bachelor of Design in Illustration and Character Design in 2025 and her prior education includes a BA and MA in English. She hopes to find work doing book illustration and scientific illustration and is passionate about finding projects in which more than one of her areas of interest intersect. Literature, poetry, and music are sources of artistic inspiration but her biggest inspiration has always been the natural world. Her artistic practice is a way for her to observe and honour nature and she usually ends up bringing a touch of whimsy to her work along with narrative and symbolic elements.
